I had a new Toyota Camry in 1991. I was at the dealership getting it serviced on a Monday morning after Super Bowl XXV. While I sat in the waiting room with other customers watching one of those early morning news programs, a video of Whitney Houston was played of her singing the National Anthem the day before at the game in Tampa, Florida. First a lady stood up, then we all did as Whitney sang on the broadcast. I don't recall a word that was said among the customers in that waiting room. I was deeply moved. I remember making calls when I got home that morning telling others of the public display of patriotism I had witnessed. I think it was the best rendition of such a difficult song I have ever heard.Sunday, February 12, 2012
