I was planning on wearing a bow tie to work this week. I always like to do something new and exciting in the New Year. Don't you? But since I did so much of the same ole, same ole, from Thanksgiving to Christmas, my shirts are a bit snug. I didn't realize my neck ties were so handy at hiding my tortured button holes. So I will continue to wear a neck tie if not for my vanity then for the safety of my coworkers. I wouldn't want to cause them to lose an eye if I happen to pop a button. Yeah, it's that bad.

I hear you, friend. I once bought a lovely bowtie but for the life of me could not get the damn thing tied. It looked like a 5 year old had tied a bow. Anyway, I would never wear one now because the belly is so big and like you, the neckties "hide" the straining buttons.
That button poppin/belly floppin thing is pretty universal in the North American male over 45, I would guess. (My apologies to those Jack Lalanne types out there.)
How 'bout a pair of tan dress shoes - with Christmas red socks?
THAT will get 'em tweetin' !
Happy New Year, Rick!
