Just The Usual Saturday Night

Well, I doubt if my New Years Eve will be this exciting. Actually, I wouldn't be able to relax with a book or anyone until I cleaned that tile. But that's just me. I hope you have a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year!

I Cleaned Up This Christmas

As always, it's just one of my many bad habits. After a hurried Christmas eve with family my father and me had a quiet Christmas day together. Quite nice really but this has been one crazy week. It's been busier than the previous weeks prior to Christmas. I'm looking forward to things slowing down next week and getting back to my dull routine.

Are You A Lonely Man?

I admit that at times I am overcome with loneliness. I don't wallow in it but I'm aware of it. I was in the grocery store yesterday and it came over me like a slow leak of air in a tire. I could feel the life being sucked out of me as it often is when I'm in situations or around people I would just as soon avoid. I know how to lift my spirits but sometimes it passes as soon as it occurs. I hope that you are not lonely this holiday season but if you are know that it will soon pass.

The Artist

I took my Dad into town last night to see The Artist at the old art deco theatre in River Oaks.

There were only about 15 people there to see this new silent film. Since my Dad is hearing impaired it made no difference to him. I was skeptical but found myself interested the majority of the time. We both liked the dog. Who is that fella? I was going to take him to see Mission Impossible because he would enjoy all the action and I would enjoy the eye candy. But I decided on a more quiet evening.

after the movie we drove around the river Oaks area and viewed all the decorations. It's amazing this year. It's not always like that.

It's nice when you can hire someone to decorate your home for the holidays.

I would probably indulge myself if I were of such wealth. I wouldn't like all the late night traffic in my hood though and people getting out and posing for pictures in front of my home.

Seeing all this makes me think I should have done more. Ahhh maybe next year?

Be Safe On The Road This Holiday

What A Mess

Last week while at work I was watching Hoda and Kathy Lee and they had several last minute gift suggestions from companies that were offering free shipping. Of course with just ten days till Christmas, what was I thinking, I jumped at these assortments of pecans from Lane Southern Orchards.

I am soooooooooooooo glad I didn't send these as a gift since they arrived looking like this. Not only was I shorted a tin when the one tin was boxed they didn't use any packing to keep the lid on securely through shipping.

The box was an oily mess and the nuts were scattered. I immediately sent them these photos and they replied within a couple of hours promising to make it right. At this point, I doubt if they arrive for Christmas but the product is quite tasty.
