Swine Flu:Are You Protected?
Is it me or is swine flu spreading as fast as the media blitz? I find it somewhat strange. It seems this thing came out of left field all of a sudden and now there's press conferences mid day and it's the leading story in all news casts. Is the media trying to cover up some impending doom of some other origin or are they just in need of a story? Don't you find it a bit odd?Monday Night Flood
It's the first time I've seen water like this here in Sugar Land since I bought my home. I suppose one reason is it seldom rains here as it does in town(Houston) or on the east side. It was also the first time I've been caught in town and unable to leave the parking garage. When I lived in my third floor condo in Houston I waded water many times and would have to leave my car blocks from home but this was a first since moving to the burbs.
The area had major rain fall on the 17th and 18th then again last Friday. So when the rains started Monday night with anywhere from 5 to 9 inches there wasn't anywhere for it to drain. Typical weather here on the gulf coast. It's always feast or famine. Now I'm sure it will be several months without rain this summer. But at this point that doesn't seem so bad.

Houston Rockets Win Game 4
Always good for the city and area businesses, last night the Houston Rockets won game 4, yeah I know by only 1 point, of the best of 7 series against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Bea Arthur Dead At 86
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Beatrice Arthur, the tall, deep-voiced actress whose razor-sharp delivery of comedy lines made her a TV star in the hit shows "Maude" and "The Golden Girls" and who won a Tony Award for the musical "Mame," died Saturday. She was 86.Arthur died peacefully at her Los Angeles home with her family at her side, family spokesman Dan Watt said. She had cancer, Watt said, declining to give further details.
As a kid, I did not like Maude or Bea Authur or at least her character. What did I know? I didn't like most old people and she came across as mean. Heck her voice registered considerably lower than mine and that was enough to creep me out. But by the time Golden Girls came around I appreciated her humor. The show was always on when I would visit my parents or older relatives. But I enjoyed the shows chemistry. I thought she was looking more and more like Betty Davis in recent years and recall thinking that someone should write her a wicked role. Sadly that never came about. Time is fleeting. Rest in peace Bea Arthur.

Heavy Rains And Tragedy Over The Weekend

Every time we get these rains people lose their life it seems. Tragically, a man drove off the road in one of the bayous of Houston and five children lost their lives as a result. I'm sure it's no comfort to the family the man has been charged with intoxicated manslaughter.

GQ's New Cover Boy:I Don't Get It?
I'm an old fart. I know that because I'm already getting AARP junk mail(what the hell is that all about?) and I don't find this guy Zac Efron attractive at all. He always looks as if he has a mask of pancake makeup on like we used in high school drama class. Plus there's something about his eyes that give me the creeps. Plus he's in shape and that really annoys me about a guy. Please don't tell any teenage girls.Monday, April 13, 2009
Why?
My girl's blog title was hijacked last week. I'm wondering how Blogger lets that happen? Apparently, my URL for the blog was ruffruffworld.blogspot.com/ and the thief used the blog title in the URL. So why wasn't the blog title my URL? Did I choose that URL when I created the blog? Hell if I can remember. At any rate, I thought the title was somewhat lame when I created the blog a couple of years ago. I'd a never thunk someone would steal it. Go figure.

It's Wildflower Season In Texas
And I have yet to get my girls to fields of bluebonnets. Maybe I still can before the blooms die out. Others have sent their pictures in to the local paper for publishing.

The Master
Honorary starter Arnold Palmer reacts after hitting his drive on the first tee to begin play in the 2009 Masters golf tournament at the Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia, April 9, 2009. Everyone seemed to think Tiger Woods would win this thing but after that boogey on the 18th yesterday maybe not.

Closed For Business
The Eiffel Tower, pictured on April 9, 2009, the second day that the 120-year-old tower is closed to visitors after staff went on strike to demand better work conditions at one of the world's most visited tourist sites. Employees were to hold services and better job security talks with the Paris landmark's management today to discuss their demands for improvements.

Go West Young Man
I don't know about "young" but I went west across the Brazos River to the county seat over the weekend.
I got a haircut, or rather a buzz cut, at the local barber. My first time in a barbers chair since the early 70's. I love that hot lather all over my neck and around my ears.mmmmmmm

Why?
Any experts out there know why my roses start getting these brown spots on the bloom and eventual turn brown on the edges? Roses, at least mine, seem to do better here in November and December in the cooler weather. Heat and humidity seem to wreak havoc. I suppose it's time for the fungicides.

Weekend Chores
I got all the beds mulched in front of the house and side.
This simple project has been due since the new fence went up in November after the hurricane. I finally got tired of tripping over the hoses laying on the ground. I don't know why I procrastinate.

Just A Few Blocks Away
It is definitely wild flower time in Texas. Throughout the state, bluebonnets, Indian paintbrushes, and golden poppies are in abundance and in full bloom.
But just a few blocks from me there is a school yard full of these wild flowers. I don't know what they are but I'm glad they haven't been mowed.

This Reminds Me
I had a fuck buddy in high school that liked to wear his sisters underwear. He would be wearing a bra and panties sometimes when we'd go camping. I'd get so damn hot. Yeah, I was a promiscuous teenager. But he like to fight and I didn't. Thankfully, I was bigger than he was and usually unscathed. He still lives in my hometown just down the street from my dad. He's on marriage #2. I hear he's a wife beater. Go figure.

After Midnight We Go Out Riding
Sometimes when I can't sleep I take the girls for a ride. Yeah, I know. Burning fossil fuels for such is disgraceful. Soon it will be too warm here for the girls to take a ride. Anyway, it's a good way to find locations that I can't seem to find when there's a lot of traffic.

Suffice It To Say:April Fools
Some April Fool's Day uh? Back to the monotony of smut. It does all start to look alike after awhile. Doesn't it? At any rate, I hope you had a fun day. Can't believe April is here.
