Slow Start To My Tuesday

Start Your Day With A Good Stretch

My Dreams Have Me Wondering

I've been dreaming a lot lately. They seem to be stressful enough I usually wake up. Although they become less vivid as time passes I'll try to remember the ones in the last couple of days.
First, I was working in a Campbell's Soup Factory. Why? I never eat canned soup. I was under so much pressure to get the consistency correct before they would put the lids on the can. The assembly line was backing up. I suggested cheese and everyone was satisfied.??
Second, I am in Seattle and I have to leave suddenly. I am making myself sick trying to find souvenirs before I leave the airport. I'm even willing to take a later flight to get the trinkets????
Third and final, this morning I awake with my heart pounding. I am nude in my childhood bedroom when I hear a present day coworker, his wife and children talking outside the back door. He's tapping on the patio door and talking to her and she walks over on the deck and looks in my bedroom window. There are sheers hanging over the window and I am certain she can see me standing there. She just keeps looking in as I stand as still as possible. I wake up with my heart about to come out of my chest. What's up with that? I was acting like Matthew Modine in Equinox.

Let Me Entertain You

I Focked Up

Last summer I posted about pruning this red tip photonia. I thought at the time it might have been the wrong time of year to prune such a large shrub. The evidence has confirmed those doubts.
Now, over 9 months after the clip job it is barely putting on new growth and most of that is from the ground. I will now have to cut back the dead stalks that didn't survive. Needless to say I screwed up. I suppose we live and learn as gardeners

The Only Thing Blooming Around Here

Yeah it's the first weekend of spring but we've had several warm episodes for well over a month now. Alas the only thing blooming in my yard are a few cannas and a climbing rose. The azaleas are quite nice now in the area but I think they are an ugly shrub when not in bloom.
I never prune this climber at the right time which is directly after blooming but...sometimes I have blooms in January. They smell great. Maybe I should feed it steriods as well?

Spring Has Sprung!

The various pictures are from the Azalea Trail tour here in Houston presented by the River Oaks Garden Club every March. The tour is always enjoyable but rarely perfect. It's either too early or late for the blooms or it's after heavy rains that have sent all the blooms to the ground. Nevertheless, spring is here.

RIP Natasha Richardson 45

I'm shocked to learn of actress Natasha Richardson's death today. She had suffered a head injury while skiing in Canada but at first appeared okay. It reminds me of my cousin that was in a traffic accident and got out of the car on her own accord and was talking to passers by before she collapsed and later died. This is a devastating blow especially when at first all seems well and then suddenly the situation changes.
I can't believe it's been over 10 years since she won a Tony for her performance in Cabaret in 1998. I liked her sexy voice. I think she had a great comedic side as well that would have been utilized more had she lived.

It Was A Great Weekend To Stay In Bed

Over the weekend we had our final blast of winter air. I love rather chilly, cloudy, and rainy days. We need the rain big time. It's been very dry in Texas this winter and if we don't get rain now we sure won't in the summer. So it was a good weekend to just stay inside and lay around. Unfortunately, I had no one to lay with other than my girls.

Before And After Decorating Eye Candy

I'm a bit apprehensive when it comes to painting my wood furniture but I can appreciate what someone else can do with an old piece. The new fabric and paint sure give it a contemporary look.

To me this room is fine especially a decorator can make you see differently. However, I do not like painting brick or stone of any kind inside or outside the home. I love slip covering and even more so since I have my girls.

This sofa below looks quite comfy and I like the traditional style. In addition, I don't mind a darker room so much.

The best part of this new look is the shelving. You can't have too much especially if your a collector of any kind. Okay pack rat.

I Don't Care:I Like It

Shame On You Martha Stewart

I bought a set of sheets from the Martha Stewart Collection at Macy's last November. They are supposedly a 400 thread count percale. They instead SUCK big time. The sheets and pillow case are so pilled already(click to enlarge photo and you can see the sheets have hair of their own and yes I'm molting as well) making them feel like flannel sheets. I have sheet sets over 20 years old I bought at Walmart that feel better than these. So what's up with that? I like a slick or hard finish sheet but not satin or sateen. I got a set from Bed Bath & Beyond that also feels like a cotton tee shirt instead of a sturdy weight material. Don't give me that Oprah shit either about they have to be 1000 thread count or Egyptian cotton. No they don't. There's just not many companies left in the United States that make sheets and towels any longer and I think that is part of the problem. I'm sure those of you in colder climates enjoy flannel sheets but not here please. So what do you prefer to sleep on and no smart ass comments either?

The Price To Go

Although it is about 30 cents higher in Houston and along the freeways this is the price today in Sugar Land. I know the PTB are anxious to get the price back up to $4 a gallon by summer.

Free? Yeah Right

I had a flat this week just over a year since I bought my new tires. When I took it in to Discount Tires they said the tire couldn't be repaired because of a large piece of metal in the tire. Since I bought the coverage they said they would replace the tire free of charge. I thought great! Then when I leave they want $28 for coverage on the new tire. LOL

All Thumbs

Seems like once a year I bust my thumb with a hammer or something. This time I was admiring how easily my new Japanese saw was working and managed to slice down my thumb nail. I'm not quite sure how I managed to inflict the damage on my right thumb nail as I held the saw in my right hand. I need a a gardening cam. Instant replay sans the pain please. The kicker is that I didn't bother to put my gloves back on after the phone rang. It's always that one time of no gloves, no seat belt, no cap, no sun screen, no spare tire, no flash light, no cash, no condom, and on and on. Work and play safe!

Monday's Pit Stop

What Will The Day Hold?

Are you slow to leave the bed sometimes not knowing what the day holds in store for you?
Lsst Friday, almost twenty people lost their jobs at my agency. Business is bad and you don't have to be a rocket scentists to realize that. It can only get worse in the advertising business. Our area has been particularly hard hit due to the loss of car dealerships and a few other major businesses. At times like these I can't help but think of one Lily Tomlin's lines. "I always wanted to be something special but now I realize I should have been more specific."
Enjoy your day!

I Can't Get Enough

I'm on day 11 of this chest cold, flu,I can't stop coughing I need some sleep/mess. The antibiotics I got last week have not made a noticeable change either. I guess it has to wear out. I know I am looking forward to the night I get some sleep without waking up coughing.
