The hills of home are calling me so I'll be out of pocket for a few days. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate and I won't be spending time along the side of Interstate 30 or 40 due to snow and ice.

I went to see Milk last night. I learned a few things. It's an important part of history. But it was a bit boring and maybe because I go in with my preconceived opinions of Sean Penn. I've never liked him but I kind of got lost on him as Harvey Milk. So maybe that's a testament to his acting abilities.
Sure it might be just a harmless comment whispered in the ear of someone special at a holiday gathering.
But they they might be shocked and appalled at what you've said.
They have probably been drinking and could easily over react.
Don't try to subdue them because chances are the situation could escalate
into violence and back biting. Be kind while socializing with family and friends this Christmas.

My tree this year sans a topper and has less than half the ornaments I usually use. Guess I'm lacking in spirit.

Oh yeah and Miss Piggy too. But wait a minute, this was a gift from a female friend over 20 years ago before I even put up a tree.
The clincher is this princess/queen carriage. Did I ever tell you I was Cinderella for Halloween when I was in the first grade? It snowed that year and I had to wear a coat over my pretty dress. I was mad. My dad was even more livid. I remember.
I'm somewhat depressed after being at some one's home when it is so much nicer than mine.
I'm not jealous of what they have just saddened by what I have.lol But it is pleasing nonetheless to see such fine displays of what a little cash can buy.
They put on a good spread but I'm a bit particular. I don't care for spicy or anything fishy like salmon or pussy. Just dust me with some flour and sugar.
This girl at Whataburger was in a festive mood and seemed glad to see me and my girls.
This made me feel a bit better when I got home. Okay it was just a temporary fix but I sure slept good afterwards.
I'm sentimental. I have these ice skates my grandmother made me when I was a kid. The paper clips are all rusty.
And I have a sense of humor too. I love the Three Stooges. That's kind of butch huh?
Actually the east side of the city had a good ground cover when they woke up this morning, about 2 to 4 inches in the east and just north of the city. Sadly no accumulation on my side of town here on the southwest side of Houston. But it was coming down pretty good yesterday afternoon and through the night. I was excited so I can imagine what kids thought this morning when they saw snow on the ground.
Poor baby ain't got no feet.
I managed to get my tree half assed decorated and only broke one ornament. That's what I get for my lack of interest and for buying over priced Radko ornaments. Oh and thanks to laminate flooring too.
Well, actually I was starting to develop an appetite for a "country breakfast". My father and his dog from Hell went back home over the weekend. While he was here I was in the cooking mode since he likes three meals a day and especially a rather large breakfast for a man in his mid nineties. This guy has never weighed over 140 pounds so you'd think all he wanted for breakfast would be maybe a piece of toast and a cup of coffee. Not hardly. Glad he has such a good appetite and disposition nonetheless. So I miss him and the routine I developed while he was here and I'm back to cold cereal for breakfast.
I have the worse luck with electronics of any kind. My brother gave me this HP officejet all-in-one printer over Thanksgiving saying he didn't need it anymore. That should have been a clue there. He had no paperwork or software for it either. So I search and download a driver for it. So far so good. I found a manual for it on line and printed it out at work, almost 90 pages worth. Then I hook it up and panel says it's out of ink. I go to three stores before I find the #14 ink cartridges for this model. Now low and behold it says the printing heads are bad. I see that heads go for $35 bucks each at Office Depot and homey ain't gonna play dat game. This baby is going to Goodwill tomorrow along with my other HP printer of mine that wouldn't feed paper.

I was just getting ready to take a bath. It's Saturday night you know. Maybe it will make me feel better and not think about this cold or runny nose. Whataya think?
Well it was suppose to be. I improvised on the recipe that I got over at Richard's blog. It never fails I think I have everything when I start something and then realize that I don't. Oil well. There's none left so it must have been pretty good. I didn't even have a gelatin mold so I just used a plastic bowl. I didn't have crushed pineapple( I swear I thought I did Richard)so I used mandarin oranges nor did I chop the pecans as suggested. But like I said everyone seem to like it so no smart ass remarks. My father especially liked it. I suppose older folks, those in their mid 90's as my father is, loves that soft stuff as opposed to that rock hard stuff. At any rate, thanks for the recipe Richard.
I was able to enjoy a hot cup of tea, the cooler temperatures, and this beautiful sunrise yesterday morning on the patio.
