Time Change

This weekend the time changes back to standard. I'm glad. Although it will be virtually dark be the time I get home most evenings I won't have to drive with the sun in my eyes. Plus, I hate to see kids out waiting for buses in the dark in the morning. Don't forget to fall back as you hit the hay Saturday night.

The roses continue to bloom despite the frost yesterday morning and the cooler temperatures. It must be what they prefer. In the summer their leaves turn yellow and fall off or they get black spot. In addition, I'm not that good at watering so maybe it's because of the recent rains? At nay rate, it's nice to have something blooming in the yard this time of year when I enjoy being outside more.

The First Frost

Yesterday morning was the first frost of the season, at least in my area of southeast Texas. I made a piss poor attempt to protect my newly pruned and budding plants.

Welcome To Wednesday's Ass Of Worship

These guys give me a crick in my neck.

Just My Luck

I've been needing a new fence since Hurricane Ike took mine down on September 13.

The first week none of the companies I called bothered to answer their phones or return calls. Then after about 3 weeks some would send someone out for an estimate. It was the same ole story all the time 6 to 8 weeks before they could do it. I had reconciled myself to do it myself and my neighbor was willing to help but Home Depot or Lowe's were always out of supplies or just could never get them. Finally last Wednesday I signed a contract with a company to put up a fence. They wanted 25% down which I was hesitant but he said it would get the ball rolling so I wrote the check. Now this past weekend I was in Home Depot and Lowe's (yeah it's an addiction of mine-like a candy store) and they had fencing supplies stacked to the rafters. Damn it! I can't win. Maybe I'll have a new fence up before Thanksgiving when my father will be here with his long legged pooch.

At any rate, a new type of fencing needs to be developed or approved for the south. The weather reeks havoc on these cedar fences and they don't last more than 10 years. I think it is wasteful but Texas Homeowner Associations won't allow chain link fences.

She Looks More Like Her Daddy

Singer Liza Minnelli attends an open rehearsal for "Liza's at the Palace" on Broadway at the Chelsea Rehearsal Studios on October 24, 2008 in New York City.
She's got her daddy's(Vincent Minnelli) big brown eyes, nose, and heavy brow. She favors her mother a bit around the mouth. In this early picture of her father he has a rather seductive mouth--pretty lips.
