Our southern lady friend from Mississippi and co-anchor on Good Morning America, Robin Roberts announced on the show this morning that she has breast cancer.

Late Night Drive By

The most holy of temples in Texas.
My babies are wide awake at 2:00 am and full of anticipation.

He is quite a cutie but won't be still.
I hate it when I get home late and I have the munchies ;) and there isn't a damn thing in the place to satisfy. However, my girls are always ready for a late night run. They never complain I have had too much too drink, too many carbs, or that it's too late.

Actor Does PSA

Actor Lane Garrison in better times before making the mistake of DUI where a 17 year old boy lost his life. Garrison makes a tearful PSA--public service announcement seen here on TMZ.
Garrison's character, Tweener, on Fox's Prison Break was killed off last season.

Pictured here in March with his attorneys he will be sentenced this week, August 2, 2007.

Texans Matt Schaub

The Texan's new quarterback, Matt Schaub, signed autographs at last Friday's open camp.
But the press had to focus on more important issues such as his former Falcon's teammate Michael Vick. Falcon's quarterback Vick has been ordered not to attend training camp pending the outcome of the investigation of his involvment in/sponsoring of dog fighting. Chin up Matt. Let's go Texans!!!!!

Ingmar Berman 89

The death of longtime film director Ingmar Bergman will undoubtedly renew interest in his lifetime work in film. My first exposure, that I can remember, was "Fanny and Alexander". Later came "Cries and Whispers" and most recently "Saraband". Make it a point to see at least one of his films as soon as possible.

Tom Snyder age 71

Tom Snyder died Sunday in San Francisco after battling leukemia. The longtime talk show host was 71.
Probably my first memories of Tom were not actually of him but of Dan Ackroyd doing a great impression of the talk show host in a smoke filled room. He always smoked during interviews but I don't remember any coughing. What I remember was his great laugh.
The first show I remember watching was The Tomorrow Show which followed The Johnny Carson show on NBC. His more infamous interview were of Ayn Rand, John Lennon, Charles Manson,(I remember my father wondering why in hell did he want to talk to that bastard?), and my fav at the time Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols. He later hosted the Late Late Show in the late 90's following Letterman. When he left CBS in 1998 Craig Kilborn replaced him with a new style of show more like Letterman.

$1,000,000

This kitchen appears too cluttered to me even before my decorator friend starts her work. Moreover, it doesn't seem fitting in a million dollar track house. Does it?

The Price To GO

Refueled over the weekend and the price was down .05. What's it like for you?

What's The Big Deal Mom?

I remember when I got home from school one day in the late 70's. My heart sank as I walked through the dining room and saw a shit load of my porn and several issues of the now defunct After Dark mag all over the table along with a sweet note from my mom saying: "I WILL NOT HAVE THIS FILTH IN MY HOME". Now maybe some of the other 'publications' were explicit but I remember enjoying After Dark, rather light fare, for the stories about entertainment and New York's night life:it was a good read for a kid in the hills of Arkansas pre college, pre internet, pre everything.
I can recall my keen interest in 'porn' started in my junior high years. I bought most of my library in the back of a bait and tackle shop in my home town. I got my first rod (hey don't think that) and reel there too, a Zebco 33. Go figure.
What was your first exposure to such "filth"?

Has It Been 26 Years?

It's hard to believe but 26 years ago today "the" wedding took place. I remember wondering what all the hoopla was about. lol

Finally Friday

Oh Yeah! Two days off to do as I please.
Maybe I will catch some porn. Mr. Scot is in fine form.

Perhaps a movie? The cumming attractions are my favorite.

Not all play. The girls do need their bath.

Cracklin Rose

I thought I was so clever creating this masterpiece way back in them thar 80's.

An 80's Crush

I had a 'thing' for Julian Sands in the 1980's. All the recent talk of the movie Parting Glances stirred memories of other favorite movies and cast members. I suppose the first movie I saw him in was The Killing Fields but it was A Room with a View when I got that man crush.
I think I like the longer hair but no matter. There are more things about the guy that get my blood pumping.

Some might say he has not aged well but I rather like him now and I could lay about and listen to him for hours. Something about his speech that dicktion.

Fond Memories

In the mid 80's, when I was just out of school, there seem to be an abundance of movies to see. Especially movies with a gay theme or at least a gay character. I went 3 times a week or more. And although 20 years older now I think I would be going that often today if there were movies such as Parting Glances. This film along with Longtime Companion, My Beautiful Laundrette, and A Room with a View were some of my favorites. Renewed interest in Parting Glances since it is being restored and re released on DVD. Check out Kenneth's story and pictures about the film and actors over at "kenneth in the 212". It made me feel good all over!
Steve Buscemi as Nick and Richard Ganoung as Michael walk along the beach on Fire Island in Parting Glances.

Hump Day

And I would like to get over it with Joseph Sayers.

Turtle Soup Anyone?

Last night I wanted to enjoy the lower humidity so I went for a jog at the park. As I crossed the bridge I heard more and more splashing. I thought to myself there can't be people in that water. It was just an abundance of turtles and they seem to multiply as I got further across the bridge. There are always some but not this many. I suppose due to the recent rains and the fact that people have been feeding them. What do you feed turtles?
Turtle soup anyone? Yeah, I know the water is nasty just like Galveston.

Nasty Nice?

I used to think my late mother was a bit neurotic when she would say wash your hands after touching those shopping carts. Have you seen some of those people? She would often say in an unpleasant tone. She would be a big advocate of having sanitary wipes at the stores entrance:the way Kroger does locally. But while chatting on the phone and watching these birds roosting on the handles I was thinking maybe she was right. Bird flu anyone?
